Rock Star-Worthy Looks

Posted on | October 11, 2010 | 3 Comments

Stars put on a great show on Friday night at the Barrymore, complete with multicolored lights, bubbles, and a keyboard kazoo. And guitarist and vocalist Amy Millan wore sequins, just like the last time I saw her. If I were a rock star, I would wear sequins every night.

Seeing all of the beautiful young things in the audience in their carefully-selected concert clothes got me thinking about (what else?) fashion. Here are some rock star-worthy looks from three of my favorite style bloggers. I’d be happy to wear any of the following ensembles to a show. What the three looks have in common is that they all involve at least one vintage or upcycled piece.

Look #1: from SUGARLAWS

I love the retro bohemian feel to this outfit worn by blogger and writer Katy from Sugarlaws. She snagged those vintage boots from her mom, who bought them in 1977 on her Paris honeymoon.

Vintage boots, Topshop blazer and tank top, Michael Kors bag, Forever 21 necklace and headband, J. Brand jeans

Look #2: from ANNIE SPANDEX

The DIY touches make this look one-of-a-kind. Blogger Annie Spandex wore this to a Liars show. She sells her rocker-glam creations in her Etsy store and collaborated with Wiloh Ecosocial Apparel on their just-launched fall collection.

Glamlist Atomic studded bust dress, Rojas cosmic leggings, DIY bracelet and rings, and DIY tack-studded shoes

Look #3: from LOOK UGLY IN A PHOTOGRAPH

Blogger and fashion wonder-kid Ruta from Look Ugly in a Photograph put together this concert-worthy look with a mix of old and new items. You’ve gotta love an outfit that makes you want to jump for joy.

Vintage top, Rodarte for Target skirt

As always, my dear readers, don’t be afraid to push the fashion envelope every now and then, even if it just means wearing hot pink underwear.

The hot pink underwear over the pants, however, is not so easy to pull off.

AS IN not so easy a LOOK to pull off.

    Never mind…

Thanks so much!! This is great! XD
I’m loving Katy’s vintage boots and Ruta is one of my favorite bloggers–she makes no apologies–I love that.
